How to Give a Houseboat Vacation
Every holiday season we are asked for ways to give a houseboat vacation.
After all, what's better than the gift of quality time and memories? Studies have shown that experiences bring more happiness than possessions.
Reasons to give experiences:
- Long-lasting memories that grow in value over the years
- More personal than material objects
- Something to look forward to!
So, how DO you give a houseboat vacation?
Since we don't have formal gift cards, we've come up with some fun ways to present the gift of a lifetime:
DIY your own "gift card" with photos of possible destination and houseboat.
This way, it'll allow you to give with flexibility:
- Planning dates when schedules are unknown
- Boat size/number of attendees
- Collective budget
.*If you know the destination you'd like to visit, be up to date on booking and cancellation policies; some locations collect the full rental amount at booking. See Frequently Asked Questions under each destination for details.
Things to wrap:
Custom t-shirts for the group to open, personalize them with their names, the location, year, or "Most Likely To..." for a good laugh.
- "Most Likely To..."
- Lake Crew "Roles"
- "I'll Bring" T-Shirts
T-shirts not your thing? Do the same with travel mugs, hats, etc. Whatever floats your boat.
Give clues that highlight the experience or will come in handy on your trip: sunglasses, hats, swedish fish or goldfish, dry bag, tumbler + sticker of the location
Make it a game: Scratch-Off Cards for a surprise destination, or make a Puzzle from a photo and have everyone help put it together.
Bonus: make a gift from all the great photos of your adventure together for next Christmas!
Make it FUN, get excited! While you're all together, it's the perfect time to iron out some details to make your reservation. But don't wait too long after the first of the year to lock it in, availability goes quickly!
