Did you know that pets are allowed on most houseboats at Lake Powell? Not all houseboat locations allow pets on their boats, but about 60% of marinas do. Those that do, generally charge a small fee (if any) based on your dog's size or to cover any deep cleaning involved. Dogs are allowed at Silverthorn, Jones Valley and Bride Bay Marinas at Lake Shasta. Locations such as the Erie Canal have certain houseboats set aside for pet lovers, while other locations have restrictions only on certain models.

Common rules apply: keep your dogs leashed while they are on shore, and please be courteous and clean up after them. It's also a good idea to invest in a brightly colored doggy-lifevest or durable boots (to prevent stepping on sharp objects that may be on the shore or in the water) while they are outside.
